What atherosclerosis causes

If atherosclerosis blocks blood flow, it could cause heart attacks (if it occurs in the heart) and strokes (if it occurs in the brain) or intermittent claudication (if it occurs in the legs). All these conditions could result in very significant damage to the affected part.
