NRSG 3225: Inquiry This website was created to acknowledge the answers to the inquiries we had as individuals and as a group. Through review of literature, we were able to identify the answers to our probing questions about Childhood Obesity: Where is it most prevalent and how has it influenced other countries?, What impact does socioeconomic status have? Is it more a problem for males or females? and is this due to use of video games, lack of physical education, or food supplied in cafeterias at school?, Why is it a growing problem?, How has culture or ethnicity influenced dietary intake?, What is the parents' understanding of obesity? Is childhood obesity more prevalent in families where both parents work? What encourages good health?, What actions are being taken to promote better health, good eating habits, wellness and exercise? and Do family, friends, or media influence poor eating habits? This website will portray the most important details of our research, which include a General Overview of Childhood Obesity, Risk Factors, Complications and Prevention.
Overweight and obesity have become major public health problems among children in countries around the world including Canada (He & Beynon, p. 125, 2006).
