Domestic violence is defined as verbal, sexual, and emotional intimidation or financial abuse; an abusive exercise of power and control over others, which leaves individuals feeling scared, humiliated, and intimidated. Domestic abuse encompasses a range of behaviors including financial, sexual emotional and psychological abuse based on power structures. (Barber, 2008)
