POSTPARTUM DEPRESSION

Depression comes in many forms and leaves it's victims with many wounds to heal.

Postpartum depression occurs after the birth of a baby, a miscarriage or adoption. With the stigma of depression comes shame, fear and embarrassment preventing many women from admitting their feelings or discussing their symptoms. They may be successful in keeping their depression and its symptoms hidden (Beck, 2006). Postpartum depression is common with perinatal depression affecting an estimated 10-15% of women (Bloch, Rotenberg, Koren, and Klein, 2006; Halbreich, 2005).

Amazingly research states that 50% of all cases go undiagnosed or untreated and for those that seek medical treatment a proper diagnosis is not always made.
