Diabetes causes your blood sugar level to be higher
than normal, and as a result, blood vessels and nerves may be damaged.
This damage can cause problems in many areas of the body, commonly
referred to as the complications of diabetes.

These may include:

  • erectile dysfunction

  • hypoglycemia (low blood sugar)

  • diabetic neuropathies (nerve damage) - due to damaging
and weakening of the small blood vessels of the retina

  • stomach nerve damage

  • kidney disease - diabetes can damage the blood vessels
in your kidneys so they cannot filter out the waste

  • hyperglycemia (high blood sugar)

  • circulation problems - caused by damage to large and small
    blood vessels

  • vascular disease - occurs because of circulation problems

  • heart problems
