Main

Anorexia is a disease that is usually characterized by a fear of gaining weight; however, it does not solely revolve around food. It is also contected to emotional problems, perfectionism, and a desire for control.

Restrictive Type
Binge-Purge Type
- Restrict the amount of food they consume.

- Exercise excessively.
- Control weight through purging:
- vomiting after eating (some may eat excessive amounts others may eat small amounts).

- misusing laxatives, diuretics or enemas.

  • People with anorexia usually either go from one type to the other. Or they usually have some behaviours from each.
  • The two sub-types usually overlap one another and are quite hard to distinguish.
  • Both sub-types are common in that the goal is to be underweight and emaciated.

If your body mass index falls on the white areas you should consider seeing a health professional because you could be at risk for having or developing anorexia.
