Education

If someone you know is experiencing an eating disorder, there are ways you can help. In order to understand the individual, it is important that you understand the differences between eating disorders, the signs and symptoms, available treatment, and support services. It is also crucial to know that each eating disorder is unique to that individual, and that their symptoms are not all similar to other individuals experiencing this condition.

In order to educate yourself further, there are many resources available to the public as well as professionals. Some of those resources include:

Eating Disorder Resource Centre of British Columbia
St. Paul's Hospital
1081 Burrard St.
Vancouver, BC
phone #604-651-5313 or 1-800-665-1822
This is an information, referral and educational service for both the public and professionals. The centre maintains a library, and a directory of treatment resources in BC.
