Anorexia Nervosa is the eating disorder where people have a fear of becoming fat; therefore, they starve themselves, abuse laxatives and excessively exercise. Due to these poor habits anorexic patients experience tremendous weight loss and are usually 15% below their healthy weight. Anorexics perceive themselves as fat when in reality they extremely thin. Their perception of their body is different then those around them. Anorexia is also a psychological disorder that goes beyond the desire to be thin. Initially they begin dieting to lose weight but with time the weight loss becomes a sign of having power over their body.
