Nutrition
A dietitian helps the person with what is a healthy diet. The dietitian can perform tasks such as plan meals suitable for the patient. These meal plans are specially written to meet the individual patients calorie needs and to help achieve the patient’s desired weight.

Medical Care
If an individual’s has problems such as dehydration, psychological problems or electrolyte imbalance then the person must receive immediate medical attention and should be taken to the hospital. Treating someone with anorexia usually requires a team effort. Due to the number of medical complication that can occur some patients may need to be monitored on a continuous basis. For an anorexic patient you would look at his or her:
  • Vital signs
  • Hydration level
  • Electrolytes
  • Physical condition

. Psychotherapy
Therapy helps address the psychological concerns the patient has around anorexia. After therapy, the patient could possible gain a better self image and feel better about their physical appearance. Family therapy can be helpful as well. It allows the family to talk about the concerns they have around the topic and also bring forth the conflicts they face with having a family member who is anorexic. Group therapy is also another form of therapy that can be helpful. Group therapy will help the individual connect with others who are experiencing the same thing.


Medications
There are no medication that have been made to strictly reduce he urge to starve yourself but selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) antidepressant drugs have been identified to help maintain weight once the goal weight is achieved. SSRI have also been shown to help control anxiety, depression and other psychological conditions.
