Daily Nutrition Tips

To maintain a healthy diet you should try to:

-Eat three meals a day, at regular times. Space meals no more then six hours apart. Eating healthy snacks during the day may also help. This will help your body to control blood glucose levels.

-Limit sugar intake (candies, pop, jam, sweets). The more sugar you eat, the higher your blood glucose levels will be. It may be helpful to replace sugar with artificial sweeteners.

-Limit the amount of high fat foods (fried foods, chips). High fat foods may cause you to gain weight. A healthy weight is important in controlling blood glucose levels, as well as maintaining a healthy heart.

-Eat foods high in fiber (whole grains, beans, rice, vegetables, fruits). These foods will help you feel more full, promote healthy digestion, and may lower cholesterol and blood glucose levels.

-If you are thirsty drink water, this will help to prevent dehydration. Also, pops and juices are very high in sugar.

-Become more physically active. Regular physical activity helps to control blood glucose levels.
